Withania somnifera

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a perennial shrub in the nightshade family, native to India and long used throughout South Asia. A highly regarded Ayurvedic root, it is often called “Indian ginseng” for its traditional role as a grounding, nourishing, and revitalizing herb. The name ashwagandha translates to “smelling like a horse,” a reference to its distinctive aroma.

Traditionally valued as an adaptogenic and tonic botanical, ashwagandha has been incorporated into herbal formulations for centuries. In many regions, all parts of the plant are used, with the root most prized. Our powder is made from organically grown roots and can be tinctured, blended into teas, added to recipes, or encapsulated.
